Hi, I'm April.

I've been a hairdresser for over 24 years, specialising in blondes, balayage and healthy, low-maintenance hair. Throughout my career I've owned multiple salons, and today I work from my home salon in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Over the years, I've helped thousands of women achieve hair they love, and one thing has become incredibly clear. The biggest difference isn't just what happens in the salon. It's what happens in the weeks between appointments.

That's why I'm so passionate about helping women care for their hair at home, with the right products, the right tools and simple habits that actually fit into everyday life.

Why you'll find fewer products on BOXED

You won't find hundreds of products or every range from every professional brand on BOXED.

That choice is intentional.

BOXED was created to make professional haircare simpler, not more overwhelming.

Every product on this website is here because I genuinely stand behind it. If I wouldn't confidently recommend it to one of my own clients, you won't find it here.

No single brand creates the best version of everything. Every professional brand has products that truly stand out, and over the years I've discovered the ones I trust the most.

Rather than stocking everything, I've carefully hand-picked what I believe are the best-performing products from a range of professional brands. Products that I've seen deliver exceptional results, both on their own and as part of a routine.

My goal has never been to stock the most products.

It's to stock the right products.

Because better hair shouldn't come with more guesswork.

Why BOXED Exists

For years, I'd finish a colour appointment knowing a client would benefit from better haircare, but I also knew that wasn't always the right time for them to buy it.

Sometimes they wanted to use up the products they already had. Sometimes they wanted to think about it, spread the cost, or simply do a little research before deciding.

I completely understood that.

What I didn't love was seeing people left to navigate hundreds of products, dozens of brands, conflicting advice, and endless recommendations, hoping they were making the right choice.

I wanted to create a place where that decision felt simple.

A place where every product had earned its place, every recommendation came from real salon experience, and you could shop in your own time, knowing everything had already been carefully chosen for you.

That's why I created BOXED.

While BOXED started with carefully curated professional haircare, that's only the beginning.

Alongside carefully curated professional haircare, I'm also building my own collection of BOXED accessories, thoughtfully chosen to support healthy hair and make great haircare routines even easier.

From brushes and combs to silk pillowcases, scrunchies and beyond, every accessory is selected with the same philosophy as everything else you'll find here: fewer, better products that genuinely make a difference.
